Actor Malcolm Jamal Warner Passes Away at 54

Sad news for Hollywood today. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died. He was 54 years old.

The cause of death was an accidental drowning in Costa Rica, authorities  have reported.

According to Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Department, the actor  drowned Sunday afternoon on a beach on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast while swimming at Playa Cocles in Limon province. A current is said to have pulled him deeper into the ocean.

“He was rescued by people on the beach,” the department’s initial report said, but first responders from Costa Rica’s Red Cross found him without vital signs and he was taken to the morgue.

In addition to The Cosby Show, Malcolm appeared on Malcolm and Eddie, Suits, The Magic School Bus, 9-1-1 and various other projects throughout his career.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.

TVGrapevine sends condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.
