Masterchef Recap for Royal Wedding
Masterchef Recap for Royal Wedding
It is Royal Wedding week on Fox’s Masterchef! Last season’s winners Jesse and Jessica are tying the knot with Chef Gordon Ramsay officiating and our remaining chefs cooking for the couple and fifty of their closest loved ones.
Chefs Tiffany Derry and Joe Bastainich are also there to help Chef Gordon Ramsay judge.
The couple requests a scallop based appetizer and duck for the entrée.
Last week’s winner Maria picks the teams: It is Asia-Pacific and Europe vs. Africa and The Americas, with Peter and Aishu as the captains.
The Red Team, which consists of Asia-Pacific and Europe cook seared scallops with crispy pancetta and creamy polenta, followed by duck à l’orange with roasted asparagus and cauliflower puree.
The Blue Team, which has The Americas and Africa make an appetizer consisting of seared scallops with crispy pancetta, golden beet frisée salad and citrus beurre blanc. The entrée is a pan-seared duck breast with parsnip purée, sautéed mushrooms, green beans and a cherry reduction.
The Red Team has under seasoned food, the polenta isn’t properly cooked and well below the par for a Masterchef cook. They all have to work on the dishes to make them show and wedding quality.
The Blue Team has raw scallops, leading Maria to be taken off that station. The duck is decent, but needs a crispier skin.
The happy newlyweds then share their opinions of the appetizers as they are served. They both prefer the Blue Team’s scallops and think the Red Team’s are too ‘pale and incomplete.’
The Red Team’s scallops catch fire, which leads to Chef Gordon Ramsay screaming at them to get it together and telling them how embarrassed he is due to this turn of events. He tells them they better do better with the second course.
However, Aghata shreds the duck, not knowing this is not how it should be done. Chef Gordon Ramsay freaks out, steps away and tells them to get it together.
Jaime is also stressing over the orange sauce, something she never cooked before, so she is reassigned to plating.
The newlyweds and their guests are torn over which team made the better food.
In the end, the Blue Team wins and Peter will get an advantage next week.
The Red Team loses, with Jaime and Aghata in the bottom two, with Aghata going home.
More next week, stay tuned!
