2023 Golden Globe Nominations Snub Women Directors

The Golden Globes nominations were announced this morning and there were several shocks, surprises and upsets. The biggest shock of all was the fact that the female directors were all snubbed this year.

That’s right, this is the first year since 2020 that NO woman was nominated in the Best Director category. This is a bit (no, a HUGE!) shock since there were so many female directed films that were released this year, all of which deserved recognition. While movies like She Said, Women Talking and The Woman King still got nominations in other categories (see below), it was still a shock and an insult to the women who worked so hard to make these movies happen.

To add insult to injury, the women were also shut out of the Best Picture categories for Drama and Musical/Comedy.
