Masterchef Recap for Wheel of Fusion

 

This week’s episode of Masterchef on Fox has our remaining chefs doing a Wheel of Fusion challenge, where each chef must make a special fusion dish based on their culture and a cuisine randomly chosen by the wheel.

As always, Chefs Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry and Joe Bastainich judge.

 

Julia is immune since she won the last challenge.

 

Team Europe will make Japanese fusion, Asia-Pacific will make French fusion, The Americas will make Nigerian fusion and Africa will make Greek fusion.

 

However, Julia then uses her advantage to reassign Africa’s fusion, giving them Australian fusion.

 

As always, the judges walk around, giving advice, offering commentary and asking about what the chefs plan to make.

 

Rita struggles with her lamb cooking properly.

 

There is so much tension in the air as everyone struggles to finish. Baisa is worried her dish is too messy.

 

 

Before long, time is up and it is time to judge each dish.

 

Best dishes:

Asia Pacific:

Aishu: Her Indian spice Coq au Fin with saffron pomme puree and cilantro oil is delicious, flavorful and mouthwatering.

 

Europe:

Agatha: Her Arroz with tuna tataki and miso and ginger aioli was lovely and restaurant level.

 

Africa:

Peter: His wattleseed and beer battered cod with plantains, ata dindin sauce and yaji spiced tartar sauce was incredible, beautifully cooked and spot on.

 

The Americas:

Maria: Her Suya spiced lamb shank with yucca mash was exceptional, popped with flavor and perfect.

 

Maria wins immunity! Her team is safe!

 

Worst dishes:

Asia-Pacific:

Shompa: Her frog leg tomato bhuna with bhorta puree and salad with chili and shallot vinaigrette was underwhelming, messy and lacking spice.

 

Europe:

Basia: Her miso glazed cod with parsnip and beet puree, yuzu beurre blanc and chive oil was messy, broke rules and didn’t make any sense in terms of the fusion.

 

Africa:

Rita: Her herb crusted lamb with vegemite jollof rice and fried plantain was very dry, lacked flavor and didn’t capture the fusion the judges wanted.

 

Rita and Shompa are eliminated.
