Hollywood Demons Recap for Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

Hollywood Demons on ID kicks off its first season highlighting Jerry Springer and his career.

There is an interview his former producer did right before his death in 2023. Several other guests and staff members share their experiences……the good, the bad and the ugly.

In the interview, he says he doesn’t want a legacy.

Several highlights from his career and show moments are shown.

Dr. Drew says Jerry is an easy guy to love, while a journalist named Simone Boyce talks about the craziness of the show…..all of which started with EP Burt Dubrow.

Burt himself is willing to set the record straight about the show and what it should have been.

Jerry initially did news commentary and even worked in politics prior to his talk show career.

Brad Kuhlman talks about working with Jerry on the news and then going onto the show.

There are some talks about how the production and behind the scenes work was done, right down to the interns having to stock water.

The show was initially supposed to be more wholesome like the Phil Donahue Show, but soon everyone realized that this was not what the people wanted and the ratings were suffering.

It wasn’t until white supremacists and black activists were brought in as guests in 1993 that the tides turned. A fight broke out and chaos ensued…..leading to Jerry trying to calm things down and the show gaining national attention.

The show began coming up with more ideas to try and top this show, with the topics becoming wilder and wilder and ratings going higher and higher.

A guest named Cher Holt talks about her time on the show, where she confronted her ex. She said she was treated like royalty with a plane, limo and hotel she always dreamed of….and all this led to her being treated to a trip to Jamaica….leading to some wild moments that were allegedly exaggerated for the show.

Jennifer Kreis also talks about her time as a guest and claims the experience destroyed her life.

Houston Curtis talks about going up the ranks on the show throughout the years.

Richard Dominick was a former tabloid producer who soon began working on the show, helping to come up with topics and making it into what we know today.

Jennifer talks about her father being in the KKK, which led to them being on the show. She talks about growing up in that environment and skewed her way of thinking.

Her family’s time on the show was sweetened with a free trip with Chicago and lots of perks, including cash, wining, dining and travel. However, she was coached in what to say and how to say it.

Several people, including Jennifer and her sister, were minors during their time on the show, with a blurred line about getting parental consent. Looking back, Jennifer has a lot of sadness of embarrassment for how it all went down.

She also claims the show took advantage of the fact that she was in an abusive home for the sake of the show.

Jennifer talks about how once the show aired, her life was destroyed and she was bullied and threatened on a daily basis.

There were also allegations of abuse toward the women on the show, which included one woman being duct taped to a chair and one being told to shake her ass for a guest.

There was also an incident that never aired since it was so bad and led to a lot of trouble.

Sheryl Recinos was a teenage pregnant runaway who was asked to be on the show. She was given the star treatment, but claims she was exploited on the show, with Jerry egging everyone on.

Dr. Drew says this was the beginning of TV being dehumanized.

Sheryl also claims they were promised $200 but only got half.

Jennifer talks about how she and her father were brought back to the show and it was even worse to the point where they were kicked out. Then they were brought back for a third time, and she didn’t even recognize herself watching back.

Jerry, in the final interview he ever did with his producer, talks about being the child of Holocaust survivors.

Despite it all, Jerry would share his final thoughts and tell everyone to be good to themselves and each other.

Jennifer felt exploited by it all and says she reported her father when she turned eighteen. It was not investigated util 2014, when her father was arrested for sexual abuse. He passed away in 2025.

We see more footage of Jerry commenting on ‘this stupid show I do,’ news footage and talks of cancelling the show due to protests.

In 1998, a young girl talked to her teachers about the sexual abuse at the hands of her brothers and how the brothers blamed the Jerry Springer show for their behavior.

This caused the show and case getting a lot of media attention and a debate on whether or not shows should be blamed for behavior like this.

The fifteen-year-old got charged as an adult and then as a juvenile after taking a plea deal.

At one point, one of the producers even quit in protest of the direction the show was taking.

The show continued to push the envelope, one of which was when an older lady had her son sing a song bashing her dressed in drag. The woman burst into tears afterward, which led to more people quitting.

Ratings kept growing as Universal took over and the show kept evolving.

One show had a woman named Nancy being attacked by her ex-husband and his new wife, being completely blindsided and abused until she walked off the stage.

The show aired on July 24th, 2000. That same day, police were called to a home for a welfare check. Nancy had been found beaten and abused to death in her own home….at the hands of her ex-husband Ralf and his new wife Eleanor.

Nancy had been misled as to why she was on the show, being told that she and Ralf were going to reconcile.  It also came out that Nancy had been severely abused by Ralf and no background checks were done on him or Eleanor.

The show as sued after Nancy’s murder and even though her family won the case, it didn’t make up for what happened.

The show would go on to do a spring break special in Jamaica. At this time, they were stricter about telling people why they were on the show as opposed to keeping it a secret….by giving them options as to what the topic could be. This led to more people quitting due to guests feeling betrayed.

After Richard Dominick quit, new producers took over, including Steve Wilkos’s wife.

Another guest died by suicide after being told his fiancée was sleeping with a friend. This led to another lawsuit against the show.

People involved with the show were allegedly told to play dumb if guests asked questions.

Many of those involved with the show express regret, including Jerry in his final interview prior to his death.

Sheryl is now a doctor and author.
