Toy Story 30 Years and Beyond Recap

Toy Story: 30 Years and Beyond opens with Tim Allen, Tom Hanks and several other people working on the franchise sharing memories.

Taylor Swift having the OG Toy Story on VHS is the cutest thing ever. I never pegged her for a Toy Story fan, but it is adorable to see how much she loves it.

The animators show how everything is made on the computer, while others behind the scenes explain how things work.

Joan Cusack also shares her own memories.

I had no idea this franchise began forty years ago. It is amazing to see how far it has come.

Toy Story 5 apparently is a battle between toys and technology. Woody seems to be central to the film, albeit a bit older and perhaps wiser?

Toy Story has a bit of a Snow White connection in the sense that both showed the future of animation, which helped make history in the world of motion pictures.

I had no idea George Lucas sold technology to Steve Jobs, which led to a lot of the animation we see today. This led to a lot of short films, drawing in an audience and putting Pixar on the map.

Buzz Lightyear went through several names before they settled on it, including T-Cor.

Tom Hanks was always the number one choice for Woody.

Tim Allen was signed on soon after.

The movie was once deemed too juvenile, so they tried to make it edgier, which made it unappealing….to the point where the movie almost didn’t happen.

With the pressure on, everyone went to work on rewriting the script and adding big names like Don Rickles and Annie Potts to the movie.

The movie was not only a hit, but it set the bar for the future of Pixar.

Jessie was the breakout star of Toy Story 2. By then, the franchise had a lot of female power both on and off screen.

Toy Story 3 had Andy moving to college and giving his toys to Bonnie. Cue tears.

Toy Story 4 had more female power with the girl toys taking over, as well as focusing on Jessie’s story. This is something that means the world to Taylor Swift since she loves the character so much….it also had a huge impact on the women working on the film.

I had no idea Tom Hanks’s daughter was a movie writer.

Toy Story 5 may be about toys vs. technology, but it also seems to give the technology toys a human side….despite Lilypad the tech toy being deemed evil by the toys.

WALLACE SHAWN!!!! SQUEE!!!!! I love that he is in the movie!!!!

I am surprised John Ratzenberger wasn’t involved in this special since he has also been there since day one.

Taylor Swift talks about her song for the movie, which is all about Jessie’s story.

Sadly, Randy Newman is not involved in this movie, but he did perform with Taylor Swift at the premiere.

Everyone involved is looking forward to seeing the fan reaction to the movie.
