Month of Mayberry Returns to MeTV

 

MeTV, America’s #1 classic television network, announces the highly anticipated return of its popular annual programming event, ‘The Month of Mayberry,’ a month-long celebration of the enduring legacy of The Andy Griffith Show.

 

The event kicks off Sunday, May 3 at 2pm ET/PT with Return to Mayberry, the 1986 made-for-television movie that reunited the original cast. On Friday, May 8 at 8pm ET/PT, viewers can revisit 1993’s The Andy Griffith Show Reunion, a one-hour reunion special featuring Andy Griffith, Ron Howard, Don Knotts, Jim Nabors, George Lindsey and Jack Dodson reflecting on the series and their favorite memories.

Starting Monday, May 4, MeTV will present four weeks of back-to-back episodes spotlighting the unforgettable characters that made The Andy Griffith Show a timeless classic. Airing Monday-Friday all month long at 8pm and 8:30pm, the Mayberry themed weeks will include a special collection of “best of” episodes: Week 1 is All About Andy, spotlighting Andy Taylor; Week 2 is The Fife Is Right, spotlighting Andy’s lovable sidekick Barney Fife; Week 3 is The Best of The Rest, celebrating the series co-stars; and week 4 is Father and Son, featuring episodes centered on Andy and Opie.

Set in Mayberry, North Carolina, The Andy Griffith Show followed the adventures of sensible, down-home sheriff Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith) as he raised his son Opie (Ron Howard) and sorted out the various shenanigans the townsfolk often got into, including his own goofy deputy, Barney Fife (Don Knottts). Airing for eight seasons from 1960-1968, the series was among the top 10 TV shows in America and is considered one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. The series is a beloved part of MeTV’s regular lineup, airing Monday-Friday at 8pm and 8:30pm ET/PT, and Sundays at 12pm ET/PT.

In this 1986 made-for-television movie, Andy Taylor returns to Mayberry to run again for sheriff, only to discover his former deputy, Barney, has also entered the race.

 

Friday, May 8

8-9pm ET/PT – The Andy Griffith Show Reunion: Back to Mayberry

In this 1993 reunion special, the original cast gathered on the iconic courtroom set to reflect on the lasting impact of The Andy Griffith Show. Features Andy Griffith, Ron Howard, Rodney Dillard and Don Knotts.

Weeknights at 8pm & 8:30pm ET/PT beginning May 4

• May 4-7: All About Andy week – featuring classic Andy episodes including “The Pickle Story.”

• May 11-15: The Fife Is Right week – featuring memorable Barney Fife episodes.

• May 18-22: The Best of the Rest week” – featuring favorite Aunt Bee episodes and other sidekicks including Floyd, Ernest T. Bass, Gomer, Goober and Otis.

• May 25-29: Father and Son week – episodes spotlighting Andy and Opie.
