Actor Gene Hackman and Wife Betsy Arakawa Pass Away
Update 3: It is being reported that Betsy passed away from rodent-borne hantavirus and Gene died from heart disease and with Alzheimers’s disease being a contributing factor. He is said to have died several days after Betsy.
Update 2: TMZ is reporting that Gene possibly died on February 17th, which is when is pacemaker stopped working.
Update: As per TMZ, the death is considered suspicious. The outlet reported the following:
‘A Santa Fe detective who sought a search warrant wrote in his affidavit, he believes “the death of the two deceased individuals to be suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation because the reporting party found the front door of the residence unsecured and opened, deputies observed a healthy dog running loose on the property, another healthy dog near the deceased female, a deceased dog laying 10-15 feet from the deceased female in a closet of the bathroom, the heater being moved, the pill bottle being opened and pills scattered next to the female, the male decedent being located in a separate room of the residence, and no obvious signs of a gas leak.”’
Sad news for the acting world this morning. Academy Award winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, along with their dog, have died. They were 95 and 63, respectively.
Their bodies were found in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home. Authorities say that no foul play is suspected, but there will be an investigation into their untimely deaths.
Gene appeared in many projects, including The French Connection, Heartbreakers and Heist.
He is survived by this three children with ex-wife Faye Maltese.
