General Hospital Star Leslie Charleson Passes Away at 79
Sad news for the soap opera world today. Leslie Charleson, known for playing Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital, has died. She was 79 years old.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Leslie Charleson,” “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini announced. “Her enduring legacy has spanned nearly 50 years on ‘General Hospital’ alone and, just as Monica was the heart of the Quartermaines, Leslie was a beloved matriarch of the entire cast and crew. I will miss our daily chats, her quick wit and incredible presence on set. On behalf of everyone at ‘General Hospital,’ my heartfelt sympathy goes out to her loved ones during this difficult time.”
According to Variety, the actress had been suffering from a long illness at the time of her death. Her health issues prevented her from appearing on the show, with her last appearance being in 2023. However, Monica was often mentioned on the show.
Leslie also appeared on other shows such as Friends, The Rockford Files, Happy Days, Port Charles and General Hospital: Night Shift, the latter two of which she also appeared as Monica.
