American Idol: Results Recap - Allison IrahetaAmerican Idol
Results Recap For February 25
by TNLADY

The votes are in!!

Tonight on American Idol Results we will see the first two guys and girls eliminated from the top 24 contestants.  This will be the first of 3 cuts that will eventually narrow the field of this season to 12.  The contestants seem to be quite nervous and each one is hoping to continue on their journey to becoming the next American Idol.

Let’s get this show started!!

American Idol Results Recap

Ryan announces that over 24 million votes came in this week.  Allison Iraheta will take the stage tonight as well as a special performance to benefit Haiti by the reigning Idol, Kris Allen.  I’m excited to see how he has grown since being named to the top spot by defeating runner up Adam Lambert.

First we are treated to a performance by the top 24 of “American Boy”. The ladies, working in groups, begin this performance.  Next we have the guys to add their touch to the song.  The entire group of contestants looks a little more relaxed tonight in their performance,  probably because they aren’t being judged.  Unfortunately that happiness will be short lived, once the eliminations begin.

Let’s get right to the business at hand.

Girls are first in the hotseat beginning with back row:

Ryan recaps each performance with prior comments from the judges and announces their fate.

Siobhan, you are safe!

Haeley, you are safe! (I’m surprised)

Michelle, you are safe!

Katelyn, you are safe!

Katie & Janell, one leaves tonight as Ryan asks Randy who will go, Randy replies, ‘too tough to call’, it’s the end of the road for Janell Wheeler

Janell is grateful to be there among such talent, thinks the winner this year will be a girl.  She sings one last time for the audience.

I wasn’t expecting that decision!!

Performing her new single, “Scars”, former contestant Allison Iraheta takes the stage.  Nice job.  She looks great and tells the girls she is glad she isn’t in their shoes tonight.

Back to the girls elimination:

Paige, you are safe!

Lacey, you are safe!

Lilly, you are safe!

Crystal, you are safe!

Leaves us with Ashley and Didi….Ryan asks Ellen what advice he has for the one who leaves tonight.  Ellen says to 'be proud of yourself, this is just another experience, a new beginning.'

Didi, you are safe, Ashley, you are eliminated.  I wouldn’t have been surprised to see either of these girls eliminated as both their performances were lacking in many areas.

Ashley says thank you to everyone who has supported her as she performs one last time on the stage.

On to the guys…

Back row:

Big Mike, you are safe!

John, you are safe!

Aaron, you are safe!

Toderick, you are safe!

Leaving us with Tim and Joe…Ryan asks Kara, ‘what do you think….is this the right couple of guys from this group to chose from’, she replies ‘no, not really.’

Tim, you are safe, (he seems quite shocked)

Joe Munoz, you are leaving us tonight.  He performs one last time for the audience.

I really thought it would be Tim leaving instead of Joe.

Special announcement, April 21, biggest names will gather as Idol begins ‘giving back’ as they have done in past years. They will start the giving back tonight as  Kris Allen enters to much applause to speak on his trip to Haiti and what he observed there.  You can download tonights performance by Kris on I Tunes with all proceeds going to Haiti.  Other information is given on how to donate to this cause.

‘Let It Be’ is performed by Kris Allen as video of him in Haiti is shown.  The relief efforts are touching as he interacts with children, unloads supplies for the residents, and brings smiles to many of those who were affected by this horrible tragedy.

One more guy to be eliminated tonight:

Starting with Casey, you are safe (no surprise there)

Jermaine, you are safe

Lee, you are safe

Andrew, you are safe

We are left with Tyler and Alex.  Ryan asks Simon, based on vocals who he thinks will be eliminated.  Simon replies, ‘it’s over for Tyler’.   Simon is correct, staying in the competition is Alex, we are saying goodbye to Tyler.

We are treated to video and comments from all those who have been eliminated tonight.  Each seems happy to have made it to the top 24, so as bittersweet as tonight is, they are glad to have had this experience in their lives.

The American Idol Results show closes with Tyler performing “American Woman” as the contestants gather to offer their tears, hugs, and best wishes to each of those whose journey will end tonight.

Join us on the TVGrapevine Forum to express your opinion of tonights eliminations.

Until next Tuesday night, thanks for being with us!
