Biggest Loser Couples III: Game On!Biggest Loser Couples III
Game On!
by vic2rea
Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC

Well the sweetheart of the show went home this week.  It was heart-wrenching to see her admit that she has thrown away 20 years of her life and then after the weigh-in, asking everyone to keep Stephanie and let her go home.  But, catching up with her after the show, it appears that not only is she getting that 20 years back, but she is enjoying her life more than ever.  What a family!  Running a 5K with her on Thanksgiving morning, going to the gym together, and her handsome husband taking dancing lessons with her.  Yep, I think she will enjoy the new life that she is getting and will probably add more than the lost 20 years onto her life!

Only week 2 and I have already found one to irritate me for a season.  There always has to be one that is there for the money, the game player, the one that will try to win at all costs.  Unfortunately Melissa falls into that category with Vicky (Season 7) and Tracey (Season 8 ) - pull out all stops to get the money.  Yes, I get it.  She weighs less than anyone on the ranch, therefore she needs to play a more a strategic game.  BUT, I must stop and remind myself - 5 pounds lost by Melissa would equate a higher percentage of weight loss than the same 5 pounds lost by any other contestant this season.  If her one pound weight gain was strategic, then she more than likely watered-up for the weigh-in,  If she eased up on the workout as she implied, then she risks reaching a plateau next week and her plan could backfire, big time, unless, of course, she pulls another immunity.   It must really stick in the craw of Bob and Jillian to work hard with them all week to drop the pounds, only to have them throw a weigh-in.  Guess we'll know next week whether it was a good strategy and she only watered up, or she messed herself up backing off the exercise and diet routine.

But what really irks me is that condescending attitude Melissa has with her husband.  Last week it was the snippy "he should have done better" because he didn't lose as much weight as she thought he should.  Then this week the snippy "Lance made an awful lot of money doing what he was doing, and it utterly stopped.... He knew his weight was an issue and he wasn't willing to make a change."   Then she told him, with cameras rolling, that the whole weight issue and the refusal to address it was costing them their marriage as well.  Lance acknowledged that there was a lot of bickering an animosity between them, but for heavens sake, he's not the only one to blame.   Besides, that should be discussed behind closed doors, not with cameras rolling.  I can only imagine how her kids and family felt hearing her talk about how it was affecting their marriage.   Maybe it was just me, but she sure seemed to be blaming his weight gain for their marital problems.  It could be that her remarks stick out so much because none of the other contestants are taking shots at their partners... yet.  I get the feeling that when the time comes, she will throw Lance under the bus and never look back, and I hope I'm wrong.

Tell me please, how did their poor choices cost them $3M?  Does a commercial diver make that much?  If so, I definitely picked the wrong career!   Have they "thrown away" that much on bad choices?  I can't see it unless they invested in some of the latest scams and schemes...  These are not people in their 60's and 70's, they are in their 30's and I find it very difficult to believe that they have thrown away that much money.  Oh well, I always have a hard time understanding how they come to such outrageously high figures - felt the same last season when they talked abut the cost of obesity.

I felt a tug at the old heartstrings when John talked about all the tragedy in his life.  Kudos to Jillian for breaking him down and getting him to bare his soul.  She truly looked taken aback when he told her about all the deaths he has gone through.  I'm glad the softer side of her came through for John, seems her soft side is what he needs to help him turn his life around and get over the ghosts of his past and her tough side will help him take off the weight.  Wasn't his son a little cutie?!

I'm wanting Sam and Koli to come out of their shells.  I want to see some the Tongan exuberance we witnessed with Sione and Filipe.  Hopefully they are just hanging back until they get a good feel for things... or maybe they just want to focus all their energy on loosing enough weight each week to stay in the running.

How yucky did that food look that poor Jillian had to try and choke down?  Did you ever see fast food look so disgusting and unappetizing?  Jillian truly looked like she was going to be sick as she tried to get that burrito down.  I loved how she explained to them that they were eating all processed, chemical laden stuff, not food and that they were better than that.

I couldn't believe Bob actually confronted Michael about not staying and continuing the competition!  Excuse me?  Did he really expect him to let them take his bleeding, moaning mother away to a strange hospital in a strange city, while he continued playing a game?  Really Bob!  I get the point about keeping him focused, but this was not the time to bring it up.  It doesn't matter how many professionals are taking care of one's mom, if she is hurt, it is a normal reaction to want to be with her - not a low self-esteem issue as Bob tried to make it sound.  I want my zen Bob back!  Jillian upset me a little as well, because it almost sounded like she thought Maria jumped off to purposely smash her face into the floor, but at least Jillian redeemed her remarks by getting Maria in the pool and helping her overcome her fear of water.

Next week, I'm hearing our contestants will assume the role of either teacher or student.  Don't think I can remember this scenario on Biggest Loser before.  I'm also hearing that one contestant threatens to quit the competition.  I'm betting it will be a female... and if I what I saw on the preview isn't misleading, it appeared to be Migdalia.  Also, I'm betting the person called out by Bob for throwing the weigh-in will be none other than Melissa - which would imply another immunity win for the Red Team.   Hope you'll be joining us on Tuesday night for the Biggest Loser, Couples III, 8/7c only on NBC!  If you miss the show, check in with us to see how your favorite(s) did!
