The Biggest LoserThe Biggest Loser, Second Chance
It's Makeover Week!
by vic2rea

Tonight's episode of NBC's The Biggest Loser, Second Chance, opens with our contestants walking with Alison to meet a stretch limo.  Alison tels them they have had amazing transformations since their journey began.  She tells them that people will recognize them and ask them for help with motivation, just like they were motivated and inspired by past season's contestants.  She tells them that they will give a speech to an audience to inspire them.  Alison tells them that they will get help getting ready for their big night - then opens the car door and out steps Tim Gunn followed by Tabatha Coffey! They are whisked off in the limo to a boutique set up by Tim in a suite at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Tim talks first with Liz.  She is excited and says she needs a makeover because she is a different person inside and out now.  She says she wants to let people know that they are worth taking time for themselves everyday.  Then comes Rudy who says he is usually in jeans and a t-shirt.  Tim suggests dressing it up with a blazer.  Tim asks Rebecca what kind of impact she wants to make on the audience.  She begins to cry and says she loves clothes, shoes and accessorizing, but wants to say goodbye to what a fat girl goes through when shopping - she asks him not to cover her up. Tim tells her he is proud of her and wants to show her off.

Allen, Danny and Rudy talk about their speeches.  Allen wants to talk about the struggles they went through before getting to the ranch.  Danny wants to talk about the underlying reasons, which is also where Rudy wants to go with.  But first, Rudy is off to see Tabatha, and of course, there is an argument on whether the beard stays or goes.

The Family Reveal
Rebecca has a short bob and is wearing a cute black dress.  Before she is sent out on stage, Tim gives her a surprise... her sister is standing behind her.  She screams with delight as her sister sobs.  She is in awe of her sister.

Danny arrives in slacks, a shirt and a sweater vest, and he's not gray any more.  He looks years younger.  He is surprised by his wife and daughters before going on stage.  His wife is freaking out over how good he looks.

Up next is Allen - styling in a beautifully tailored suit with a brown striped shirt and coral tie.  He is surprised by his wife and daughter.  This time, he is the one to be crying.  His wife says he hasn't been this thin since '93 when they got married.

Amanda is up with black slacks and a blue ruffled tunic top.  She is surprised by her mother who says this is what every parent wants, to see their child healthy and happy.

Tabatha won... Rudy has no beard and looks, according to Tim, 15 years younger.  He is in jeans, a striped shirt and brown blazer. Rudy's beautiful wife, and daughters arrive for hugs and kisses.

Liz looks amazing in a leopard print, v-neck dress and new hairstyle.  She is greeted by her husband and daughter.  Her husband tells her "baby, you look so good" and then he loves her after she gets a big hug from her daughter.

The Speeches
Alison announces to the audience that they will be seeing the final six after their makeovers.  She introduces Danny, Liz, Rudy, Amanda, Rebecca and finally Allen.  The audience is obviously impressed and greets them with cheers and standing ovations.  Allen's daughter brushes away tears as he talks about being a firefighter and putting his life on the liine to save people.  He says he had been fearing for his own life, as he felt he was becoming a liability.  He says he needed to save his life.  Danny talks about fighting a weight problem at an early age.  He tells about his daughter telling him she wanted a belly just like his - it made him think and it is one of the main reasons he is where he is today.  He says he is going to finish his journey and it is time for them to start their journey. Rudy talks about his sister being diagnosed with cancer when he was 12 years old. Bob and Jillian are shocked that he has been keeping that to himself all this time.  He tells them that his sister told him before she passed away he needed to make a change and get the weight off, but before he knew it, he weighed 442 pounds. Rudy hopes that he can get another person off the couch, another dad who wants to see his little girl walk down the aisle.   Amanda talks about being overweight her entire life.  She says her weight has held her back from opportunities. She says she is becoming a strong person and is done running away from her problems.  Rebecca tells us she was overweight since she was 10 years old.  Liz says she tried to blame her weight on everything and everyone instead of herself.  She says she even blamed the dryer for shrinking her clothes.  The audience laughs as she tells them she would watch the Biggest Loser weigh-ins eating ice cream and saying she was going to do something.  She says she tried to everything to everybody and somewhere lost herself.  She says she is going to take time to take care of herself and finish this journey.

The Challenge
Our contestants arrive to find a zip wire across a canyon.  Alison tells them their stay at the ranch would take them to new heights - and so will this challenge.  They will go across the canyon on the wires with a pulley to move themselves across - 200 feet off the ground.  They winner will win a 2-week trip to The Biggest Loser Resort and Fitness Ridge in St. George, Utah.  Liz is terrified as they hook her up.  Danny says it's loosening him up listening to the noises she is making.  She gets encouragement for the other contestants but says she is just going to pull and keep her eyes closed.  Rudy takes an early lead, followed closely by Amanda.  Allen and Rudy are having problems.  Good to her word, Liz is pulling herself with her eyes closed.  Rudy slows and Amanda begins to catch up.  They hit the home stretch together and Rudy crosses first.  Amanda is second, Rebecca is third, followed by Allen, then Danny.  They all call our cheers to Liz.  She says this is all about finishing and not chickening out.  She crosses the finish line and is applauded by her fellow contestants.  Alison congratulates them, then they get to cover their beginning shots with their makeover shots.  The before and after shots always amaze me!

Back at the ranch, Bob and Jillian ask who won the challenge.  Rudy says he did and Bob remarks that this makes it two in a row.  Jillian says they need to start the workout.  Bob hold Allen back to find out why he is not winning these challenges, because the challenges are physical and he is the strongest and lightest in the house.  Allen tells him he is playing the game somewhat.  Bob doesn't want him to concentrate too much on the game.  Allen assures him he is still focused on weight loss.

The Last Chance Workout
Jillian and Bob put them through a grueling workout.  Jillian approaches him about losing his sister when he was so young.  Rudy says there are some things you just have to work through yourself.  Jillian takes him outside for a walk with weights and talks to him about why he kept that to himself.  She finally gets a small breakthough as he admits he held the hurt inside.  She gets him to realize that holding it inside has contributed to his eating for comfort.

The Weigh-In
It's the dreaded walk to the weigh-in.  They are worried because the makeover week took them away from the gym for too long.  Alison greets them and tells them tonight there is one more thing to do - make it over the yellow line.

Rudy         308   -16    4.94%  (134 pounds in 10 weeks - another record)
Amanda     193   - 9    4.46%
Danny       304   -12    3.80%  (126 pounds in 10 weeks)
Allen          238   - 5    2.06%

YELLOW LINE:
Liz             203   - 3    1.46%
Rebecca    206   - 3    1.44%

Rebecca hugs Bob and Jillian as Alison tells them it is time to go.  She dismisses the contestants to go back and figure out who is leaving.  Rebecca tells everyone she wants to talk to Rudy and Allen alone.  Allen gets ready to leave the room and tells Liz she has to get some fight in her if she wants to stay.  Danny talks to her after Allen goes and tells her she needs to show some passion.  Rebecca tells Allen and Rudy that Liz has been below the yellow line 3 times and she has never been there.  Rebecca says Liz got her second and third chance and she wants her second chance.  Danny tells Liz she needs to find Allen and Rudy and tell them that she wants to stay and will fight to stay.  She tells them she is 49 and doesn't have that many years left and this is her final chance - she says Rebecca is only 25 and has a lot of years left to get her life together.

The Elimination
The contestants arrive at the elimination room.  Alison tells them that this decision is never easy and after 10 weeks, it will be even more difficult.  She explains in the event of a tie, the lowest percentage goes home.

Amanda votes Liz.
Danny votes Rebecca.
Rudy votes Rebecca.

They don't see Allen's vote.  Rudy tells Rebecca that he didn't trust her.  Rebecca begins to cry and says he should have told her five weeks ago.  He says she should have been honest with the black team five weeks ago.  Alison tells her she is not the biggest loser and it's time to say goodbye.  She hugs Danny, than cries with Amanda.  She gives Amanda a kiss and leaves the elimination room.

Rebecca arrived at the Biggest Loser Ranch weighing 279 pounds, she leaves weighing 206 pounds.  She says she is starting to become the person she has always wanted to be.  She says her journey will continue at home.  She arrives home 24 hours later into the arms of her weeping mother.  Her mom says she couldn't wait to get her hands on her, but there wasn't very much to hold anymore!.  Rebecca goes to her room and begins throwing out her big clothes.

We see Rebecca at the half marathon, having dropped 107 pounds and looking absolutely fantastic.  She says before the show she was always told she had a pretty face, now she is told she is a pretty girl.  She weeps as she finishes the half marathon.  She thanks the Biggest Loser for changing her life forever.  She is training hard to be the at-home winner.  After the Finale, she plans to pursue her dream of opening a gym for overweight children.  Good Luck Rebecca!

Next Week:  After 1000 pounds lost, we are down to the last two episodes before the finale.   Hope you'll join us to watch the show next week on The Biggest Loser Second Chance, Tuesday, 8/7c only on NBC.   Also, Wednesday at 8/7c on NBC, there will be a Biggest Loser Special to see who kept the weight off and who hasn't.  Looks like an interesting show!
