Mud Volleyball?
Sunday 8/7c on CBS
by Muffins

The ninth leg of CBS' The Amazing Race airs this Sunday after Sixty Minutes. Racers travel from Sweden to Estonia where teams get down and play dirty when they engage in a game of mud volleyball. One member from each team will also participate in a Roadblock that requires them to use the heat from a candle to reveal an invisible message on parchment.

The Amazing Race

Matt and Gary, already needing to make up time to stay in the race because of a speed bump are slowed on this task because of Matt's ignorance of the term candelabra. Tensions heat up when Flight Time and Sam take a tumble as the two teams sprint to the pit stop. Will fate smile on Team Pinkie? Will relations between The Globetrotters and the brothers be further strained because of the accident on the way to the pit stop or will everyone take it in stride? Tune in Sunday to find out.

The much hyped new element, the switchback was a bit of a let-down in this past week's episode. The switchback referred to The Amazing Race's return to a location and performing a challenge that had been done in a previous season. It was exciting to anticipate the return to that particular challenge, but in retrospect, it was far-fetched to think that another team could have had as much bad luck as Lena and Kristy did when the challenge was first done in season six.

Five teams still remain in the race after this past week's non-elimination leg. Brian and Ericka feel like the weakest team at this point with Brian pulling more than his share of the load. I have a hard time picturing Ericka playing mud volleyball in any way, shape, or form and as that is probably a Detour element, I would expect to see them choose whatever the other option is - too bad it probably won't be a head-shaving challenge as Chip and Kim did in their fast forward. When Kim went ahead and shaved her head, it elicited  a feeling of strength, courage, and love on her part. Somehow the thought of Ericka in the same position prompts only thoughts of karma after all of the whiny fits she has had. Now that's a switchback that would make for some great TV!

Tune in to The Amazing Race Sunday night to see who will continue on in the race around the world for $1,000,000.
