Survivor SamoaSurvivor Samoa
Recap November 5, 2009
by HoneySC

On Foa Foa, Russell feels that the miracle they need to survive is a merge. Russell feels that the uniy of his tribe will serve them well if there is to be a merge on tonight's Survivor Samoa. Seeing that there is division in Galu, he feels his tribe's best move is to use their unity to gain other Galu members. Russell feels that he is just too good a player for this game. He feels that this game is not totally physical, and the mental strategy is the way to win.

Laura feels that Shambo doesn't like her and that is why she sent her to Foa Foa during the reward. Shambo offers for them to take a walk and settle it, but Laura refuses. Laura says that Shambo tried to blow it up to be a larger issue than it was. The latest issue is over Laura's missing canteen. The others say they know that Shambo is crazy and anyone arguing with her must also be crazy.

On Foa Foa Russell is so sure that there is a merge coming that he is carrying his immunity with him everywhere. The two tribes meet on the beach and find a treasure chest and there is no Jeff in sight. They read that the tribes are merging and they trade in their buffs in the traditional move. They open the treasure chest to find a feast of chicken, cheeses, fruit, desserts, and juices. Foa Foa gets to know Galu, making friends, and Russell is proud that his group is doing what they set out to do. He feels that the plan will only work to their advantage and sees himself as winning this new tribe over, as well. Foa Foa joins Galu at their camp and they name the new tribe Aiga, meaning extended family. Some on Foa Foa are not accepting of their new tribemates and when Laura and Russell talk privately, he shares that he has the idol. He tells her that if she takes him to seven, he will give her the idol. Laura feels she is holding all the cards and tells him that when Russell tells her that the conditions are that one of her tribe will go first and then one of his can go. Laura declines his offer and tells him that he is lucky to be surviving. Russell decides that he is going to work to get her out. He next goes to Monica, but doesn't feel that she is sincere, although she goes along with him. Russell moves on to speak to John and John shows interest in Russell's offer. Russell says that he would like to get rid of Laura first and that will eliminate the girl power. John agrees and Russell feels a bit like Babe Ruth, keep swinging and eventually you will hit one. Russell says that he will guarantee his tribe's votes and can rustle up a couple more votes.

Russell speaks to Shambo and she identifies with him. When he speaks to her about taking Laura out, she agrees and Russell finds it easy to "control their minds." He feels that he has it all under control.

The newly united tribe meets with Jeff and he announces individual immunity. The first individual challenge on Survivor Samoa will feature two individual immunities. The game is T-ball, and the object is to hit the ball off the tee into a score slot. Dave gets three, and Jaison has no points. Russell gets a four and he has the highest score so far. Brett gets no points and has no immunity. Mick gets two and is out of the challenge. Erik swings and is off the course. John swings and lands in the five, winning individual immunity for the guys. With the women up, Natalie swings and gets nothing when it goes off the course. Monica gets two points. Kelly swings and gets three points. Shambo gets no score. Laura is up and she gets a four, winning individual immunity for the women. John and Laura both proudly wear their individual immunity necklaces and are free from tribal council and the vote.

Shambo is upset that the plan to take out Laura is off the table for tonight. With the plan on hold, a new target for tonight must be generated. Shambo doesn't want to get rid of Monica and Russell thinks that he might want to play his idol tonight. John tries to discuss with Erik that Monica should be the next to go. Erik thinks that they should try to flush out Russell's idol and then take out Jaison who they feel is worthless. Dave wants to take out Foa Foa one at a time, and is nervous when Erik and John want Monica to go. Erik speaks to his tribe about trying to flush out Russell's idol. Jaison tells the others that they should put their four votes on Erik and let the ball roll. The girls don't trust Erik and they ask Kelly if she will vote out Erik. They point out that Galu still has plenty of people. Natalie tells them that they will still outnumber them and Erik needs to go now. Shambo is concerned that they want to take Erik out and Russell overhears them. Erik feels that he has the idol in his pocket and that he will use it if he feels the need to. Russell feels that this might be a blindside to take out both him and his idol.

At tribal council Jeff asks how the merge has affected the tribe. Monica is not sure where to place her trust. Erik feels that Foa Foa has nothing to offer Galu and worries that they will get one person of Galu out of the game. Russell tells him that they have a lot to offer and he will be surprised to find out. Erik says that Russ is scrambling and Mick is talking to them. Jeff rephrases Erik's comment that Jaison has a lot of potential and little result. Jaison says that he has been doubted the entire way, but he pushes aside roadblocks. Jeff comments that there is a lot of judgment coming from Galu to Foa Foa.

Jeff calls for the vote:
Jeff did not call for the immunity idol, but Russell steps up and plays his immunity idol. Jeff reminds everyone that any votes cast for Russell will not count.
Jeff reads the votes:
Jaison, Jaison, Erik, Erik, Erik, Erik, Erik, Erik, Erik. Erik is the seventh person voted out of Survivor Samoa and the first member of the jury.

Erik's comments:

Erik doesn't regret going home with the idol since this blindside was invisible to him. He says that he played the game with his whole heart.

Next week on Survivor Samoa:

The old Galu declares open season on Russell. He is out of idols, low on friends, and possibly out of luck.
