The Biggest Loser, Second ChanceVisit to Washington DC by vic2rea Tonight's episode of NBC's The Biggest Loser, Second Chance, opens with Alison announcing that everyone will be going to Washington DC and tells them to go pack and meet her at the Lincoln Memorial. Then they are off and we see them on the plane and how excited they are that they can now fasten the seat belt without an extension. The Pop Challenge Alison greets our contestants in front of the Lincoln Memorial. She brings out Bob and Jillian. Alison announces they will met with some congress members to talk about their journey and that they will also visit the White House. Alison then surprises them again with the announcement that they are now working as individuals. Alison tells them they are going to have 60 minutes to get the most people together in front of the Washington Monument for a public workout. The winner will have a huge advantage at this weeks challenge and will get to take their whole group of people to Subway for dinner. They are off. Danny says he now know what it must feel like to be a politician. Rebecca is mostly ignored, Amanda is recognized and Rudy has a group cheering his name. Allen is searching for a fire department. Liz comes up to a group only to find they already have pink stickers for Amanda. She finds three young men and gives them a brown sticker. Tracey finds a group and tells them to remove their stickers and take hers. Amanda has a whole group following her and wearing pink stickers, but Daniel gets some of them to put on his orange stickers. Then, finally at the Washington Monument, we have firetrucks arriving wearing Allen's green stickers. Alison announces that it was extremely close and came down to just one person between Liz and Allen... The winner is Liz! Liz is amazed that she beat Allen and all his firefighters. Alison then brings out Jillian and Bob for the workout. Bob takes the stage, while Jillian, true to form, goes out into the crowd to pick on total strangers. Everyone enjoys the workout and Alison then announces that all the people with the brown Liz stickers are to board a bus for dinner at Subway. Jillian and Bob then take the contestants to meet with members of Congress to discuss their stories and hear the problems of obesity in America. They are greeted by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand who thanks them for joining them and tells them she appreciates their efforts to lobby Congress. Senator Robert Casey tells them we are living in a time of real darkness right now, a time of struggle and a time of difficulty for so many families. He thanks them for being such a shining example of what can happen with courage and commitment. Daniel shows them his size 54 pants he wore in high school. He says as his weight went up, his grades dropped along with his feelings of self-worth. He tells them they need more emphasis on teaching the importance of activity. Bob explains that Daniel is no longer the exception, he has become the norm. Jillian says American's have no concept of what they are eating and what is in their food supply. Rebecca tells her story of being 245 as a young girl. She tells them of how she starved herself trying to lose weight. Senator Gillibrand thanks them for their passion and commitment and promises that she and Senator Casey are committed to finding solutions. The Challenge Phase 1 Morning dawns and Alison greets our contestants to tell them the four stages to the challenge. In order to win, they must complete all four challenges and be the last person standing - the winner will receive immunity at this week's weigh-in. Part 1 of the challenge will take place in Constitution Garden. She explains that in order to succeed in this city, people must win elections, which means they have to run harder than they ever have before. They will have to run one mile - two laps around Constitution Gardens Lake. We are then shown flashbacks of Day 1's mile run when Tracey collapsed. She then announces that Liz has the advantage of skipping one challenge, but not the last challenge. Liz will run this phase but must come in at least 6th. The race is on.Rebecca and Allen take an early lead to set the pace. They are followed by Amanda, Rudy and Daniel. Liz and Danny are duking it out for 6th place, with Alison reminding Liz she didn't use her pass for this challenge and must come in 6th. Tracey overtakes Shay, as we are shown flashbacks once again of their first mile on Day 1. Tracey vows it will not be like the first day. Rebecca finishes first, Daniel, Allen, Amanda then Rudy. Liz finishes 6th. Alison announces that they will continue on to phase two as Danny crosses in 7th place. Tracey finishes 8th to the cheers of the other contestants. She says that in today's challenge was not winning immunity, she was winning for herself. Shay crosses the line. Great Job to all of them. Phase 2 We arrive at the Watergate Steps. Alison says this phase they will raise funds. On the steps are 17950 pennies for each player. That is the exact number of pounds lost to date on biggest loser. They will race halfway down the steps, take as many pennies as possible, race back up the steps and put them in their bank. The first four layers will continue on. Liz decides to sit this one out and hopes that this wears them out. Alison announces that Liz is automatically in their next round, so only the first three will continue on. Rudy's large hands scoops up twice as many pennies each time as the others. Rudy has an obviously large lead, followed by Allen. Rudy finishes first, then Daniel. It's neck and neck between Allen and Rebecca. As they are picking up pennies next to their banks, even Alison gets excited because it is so close. Rebecca throws her pennies in the bank and beats Allen. Phase 3 We move on across the street from the U.S. Capital for a balancing competition. They will have to hold a pilates ball over their head while they balance on a platform with a small ledge. The last two standing will go the the final phase of the competition. Daniel is trying hard to steady himself as is Rudy. Liz and Rebecca are steady and quiet. Daniel is the first one out. Rebecca has moved at all. Rudy is swaying, but Liz loses her balance and steps off first. Phase 4 Across the street from the White House, Alison announces that one of them will walk away with immunity. She tells them that the first one to take 206 steps will win immunity. Rebecca asks why 206. Alison explains that is one step for each contestant who has been on The Biggest Loser so far. Off they go. Rebecca slips slightly at the very beginning, but they stay tied. Rebecca then takes a 7-step lead at 70. She maintains her lead and hits 100 as Rudy hits 90. Rebecca takes her lead to 30 steps ahead of Rudy. Rebecca wins immunity by a score of 206 to 191. The White House Visit Our contestants arrive at the White House and stroll across the lawn to be introduced by Alison to Sam Kass, Assistant White House Chef. He takes them to Michele Obama's personal garden. Mr. Kass explains that it is the first White House garden since Eleanor Roosevelt planted one. He tells them that Mr. Obama's favorite vegetable is broccoli and that the girls are good eaters. Bob says he loves this administration for so many reasons and the fact that they have their own garden they eat from makes him want to just grab them and squeeze them. They begin to pick vegetables for a fresh salad. Daniel says it's no wonder the First Family looks so fit, they eat fresh from the garden. They go into the White House kitchen and beg preparing their salad. Shay says it is so surreal to be in the kitchen where the president walks in for cereal (cute). Jillian says it is so encouraging to know that this is how the first family eats because they set the standard for all of us - it's inspiring. The Last Chance Workout Jillian is thrilled that there are not more teams and she gets to work out everyone. She has them running steps forward, backwards and sideways. Bob takes a group to the gym for a workout. Daniel says being in DC this week has helped him refocus. Jillian then gets Tracey on the treadmill and then wrestles her with a pilates ball. Jillian says she is trying to get through to her that this is about changing herself. Tracey says Jillian is just like she is on TV, but what most people don't see, is she has the biggest heart. Bob works out with Shay and tells her she will get into the 300's while in DC. He moves on to Amanda. He asks why Amanda ran out of the gym. We are treated to a flashback... She says something triggered her about all the things she missed out on, the prom, going to the beach - always making excuses to do all the fun things in life. Bob says he is prepared to give Amanda a little extra attention. He puts her on the treadmill - she is focused and looking very determined. The Weigh-In Night falls and our contestants arrive at the Lincoln Memorial for the weigh-in. Alison says today they will weigh-in as individuals. Rebecca 219 -4 1.79% (Immunity) Daniel 261 -11 4.04% (7 pounds from losing 200 pounds) Danny 333 -12 3.48% (97 pounds in 8 weeks) Allen 253 -9 3.44% Amanda 207 -7 3.27% Rudy 332 -9 2.64% (110 pounds in 8 weeks) Shay 393 -9 2.24% (83 pounds in 8 weeks) Tracey 194 -3 1.52% Liz 218 -3 1.36% Ironically, Tracey and Liz fall below the yellow line. Liz says she wants to stay, but it is ultimately their decision. Shay is upset because she didn't fight for it. Tracey takes the spotlight and begins to cry. She stops crying and says she really wants to stay. Daniel asks her where her head is now, losing weight for getting the $250K. She says she wants to lose the weight and please keep her, Amanda says Tracey's plea was more like an apology, but she screwed her over, however, Liz is more of a threat. The Elimination The contestants sit at a table in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Amanda votes Tracey. Shay votes Liz. Danny votes Tracey. Daniel votes Tracey. Rebecca votes Tracey. Tracey has four votes and is eliminated. Alison says it sounds like some of her early choices came back to haunt her. Tracey says she had to play the game. She says she is happy she was on the Biggest Loser. Alison tells her it is time to say goodbye. The first to hug her is Liz. Tracey arrived at the Biggest Loser campus weighing 238 pounds and leaves weighing 194. She says she has come so far since the first day, fighting every single day. She says she played the game and the choices she made came back to bite her. She says the person that was so sad is gone. She says she loves the new "me" and she smiles a lot more. We catch up with Tracey 24 hours later arriving home dressed in purple. She is taken by helicopter to meet her family. She says the last time she was on a helicopter was on the first day. She says the old Tracey is gone and the new Tracey is coming out. She arrives to a huge crowd chanting her name and waving at the helicopter. She gets out and poses for the crowd. He husband steps forward, hugs her and says she looks awesome. Her daughter Hannah cries and hugs her mother. She says she is so happy her mother had the chance to change not only her life, but theirs as well. The chopper departs as the family hugs. Tracey has astonished me! She is slim and trim and rerunning that first mile! She wants to live a long healthy life with her family. She crosses the finish line in 11:22! Tracey tells her family when you start something you have to finish it and that is why she had to rerun that mile. Tracey has lost 85 pounds and is training to run a full marathon in December. Why to go Tracey! You look fantastic! Tracey was a guest on the Jay Leno Show tonight. We'll see if there is anything out there and let you know how her appearance went.
