The Amazing RaceThe Leap of Faith CBS' The Amazing Race returns tonight for the sixth leg of this race around the world. Five of the eleven teams have been eliminated leaving The Globetrotters, the poker players, the brothers, Team Pinkie and the Brain, Team Nashville, Team Miss America, and Team Malibu Barbie and Ken to continue running in The Amazing Race in Dubai. As winners of the last leg of the race Meghan and Cheyne are first to receive their clue to pick up a locked briefcase and travel to Dubai Creek and Yacht Club and search for the next clue box. They are first to arrive and find the clue box. Road block. One team member must take an inflatable boat and row out to a private yacht and find a sheik on the boat. The sheik will give the racer a wristwatch and the racer will row back to the shore. Once back on shore the racer must open the locked briefcase by figuring out that the time on the watch (8:35) is the combination. When they open the briefcase, they'll find their next clue inside. The other teams are heading out. Matt and Gary talk a bit about Matt's hair and that he had re-dyed it pink the night before. Gary laughed and admitted th at he had never done that before. They seem to be getting along very well which is very nice to see. Cheyne and Meghan get the briefcase open fairly quickly and they get the next clue to travel by taxi to the Abra Station - a water taxi service in an old section of Dubai. The Globetrotters are off to a bad start as their taxi driver takes them to the wrong place. Cheyne and Meghan reach the station and find the next clue box. They take the water taxi to the market. Detour. Gold or Glass. In Gold, team members must find the jewelry store in the market and weigh out exactly $500,000 worth of gold. To do that, racers must divide the $500,000 by the current gold exchange rate that is visible on the monitor in the store - a number that changes frequently so racers will have to work quickly. Once they complete the task, they will be given the next clue. In Glass, teams travel to a spice shop and get a crate of disassembled Middle Eastern smoking pipes known as hookahs. Teams will have to use all of the parts in the crate to finish with 12 hookahs. When they complete the task they will receive their next clue. The Globetrotters are on the right track now and they arrive at the Yacht Club. He is having a lot of trouble figuring out how oars work. Finally he abandons the oars and just starts dog-paddling off the front of the boat. The brothers are also there and they quickly finish and head out toward the station. The Globetrotters can't get the combination. They are looking at the hands as being on the 8 and the 7 rather than the time of 8:35. Tiffany and Maria get their watch and get the case open quickly. Canaan and Mika also get their case open quickly, leaving the Globetrotters in klast place as they continue to struggle with their briefcase combination. Cheyne and Meghan are working on the hookahs task. Meghan is discouraged by the number of pieces and possible combinations. Brian and Ericka are doing the gold. They are having a lot of trouble with the Gold task. Ericka is getting very frustrated. They continue to try to get the math right fast enough - although it isn't clear that they are even using the right math expressions to arrive at the answer. When they still can't get the answer, they run off to try to build the hookahs. Cheyne and Meghan are having their own problems with the hookahs as they continue to get thumbs down until they realize that they have extra parts that need to be incorporated into the pipes. When they realize that, they get it right and receive the next clue to travel to Atlantis, The Palms Dubai Resort and find the aqua adventure, Leap of Faith - a 6 story water slide that takes a 90 degree turn through a shark tank.Maria and Tiffany arrived at the station and they are picking Gold. Brian and Ericka are throwing the hookahs together - well Brian is anyway, not sure what Ericka is doing. They are not matching up the colors of the piping with the bases so they are not getting it right. The brothers are doing the gold - they explain that before the race started they went to Walmart and bought a calculator for $2 in case they need it for the race. While they are there, the girls show up. They borrow the guys' calculator, get the number and yell to the brothers what weight they are looking for. They get the gold on the scale, but don't hit the bell before the exchange changes on the monitor so they are told it's wrong. Matt and Gary are assembling the hookahs. The girls and the brothers try again and this time they get it right and receive their clue to go to the waterslide. Meghan and Cheyne arrive at the waterslide. Cheyne goes down first - it takes about 5 seconds for the whole ride. Meghan questions the person at the top of the slide as to whether the sharks are fake. When she's told they're real, she sort of shrugs and goes for it. The clue box is in the water at the bottom of the slide. They get the clue that directs tem to search the grounds of the expansive resort to find Dolphin Bay Beach, the site of the pit stop for this leg of the race. They find the beach and Phil greets them as Team #1. They are excited and Cheyne picks Meghan up and runs with her into the water before he sets her down. As they run out of the water Cheyne says "OK, OK, what did we win?". Phil tells them that as winners of this leg of the race they have each won their own personal watercraft. They are thrilled. Back at the Spice shop, Brian and Ericka still are not paying attention to the details. The Globetrotters have arrived at the Spice Shop as they start to open and unpack their crate. The heat is getting to both Matt and Mika as they sit down. Brian tries switching the hoses on the pipes and they are given the thumbs up. The Globetrotters realize that Team Miss America was at the task for 2 hours longer than the Globetrotters - so the guys decide to switch the task as they head off looking for the jewelry shop to do the gold task. The girls go down the slide and then we see them checking in with Phil as Team # 2. Dan and Sam are right behind the girls. The guys are both wearing red swim trunks and running down the beach when the girls comment on them being a scene out of Baywatch. Everyone laughs. Phil checks them in as Team # 3.Matt and Gary get the hookahs finished and head off to the waterslide. Brian and Ericka are at the top of the slide and we find out that he is afraid of heights and she is afraid of water. Brian realizes if he goes first that she might not be able to do it so he insists she goes first. Ericka screams the whole way down and Brian tells the camera that she had a blast, trust him. As Brian goes down the slide you can hear him yelling and repeating Oh My God! At the bottom, Ericka looks like she is close to tears as she tells Brian that that wasn't fun. They get their clue to head out to find the pit stop where Phil checks them in as Team #4. Mika and Canaan finish the Detour and head out for the slide. She worries about the "Leap of Faith" name of the water ride. We are treated to black and white footage of Mika's struggles in the previous legs when heights were involved such as at the top of the Burg Dubai in the last leg when she was petrified that she would have to rappel down the outside of the tower. Matt and Gary don't have much trouble going down the slide and they are checked in as Team # 5. Mika and Canaan arrive at the slide and Canaan tells her that now she'll have the chance to wear her floatables - floatation aids on her upper arms. Mika is having a complete meltdown - telling Canaan to stop telling her what to do and to stop touching her. She keeps backing away from the slide. The Globetrotters are weighing gold at the jewelry shop. They get it correct and they head for the slide. Canaan is still trying to convince Mika, telling her $1,000,000 for 1 ride down a slide. He tries to reason with her. He asks if he can help her over to the slide. She asks him if they can calm down. He inches her over and when they get as close as he thinks they'll get on her own, Canaan tries to get her closer to the slide so she can sit down. She screams and fights him, yelling "You can't make me! You can't make me!". An attendant at the top of the slide looks on calmly while this is going on. I think the camera angle and perhaps editing makes it look like they are closer to the edge of the slide than they are. There is no doubt that she is in full panic mode. We come back from commercial and Mika is standing at the top of the slide - in the area where you sit down. Water is running over her feet. Canaan is literally sitting down pretty calmly talking to her. He is not making any move in her direction. He tells her all she has to do is sit down. He pleads with her to just sit down. Mika can not even consider doing that - she is absolutely terrified. Canaan stands up and says he's going to sit down behind her and she can watch. He is not making any force with her but she says "nnoooo, do not force me". She is crying. He backs off a bit and she starts to sit down - she really did try to sit down, but at the last second she stood back up. The Globetrotters are in the taxi on the way to the slide. Mika is now sitting in the water at the top - she just needs to let go. Canaan tells her to close her eyes and he scootches in behind her to nudge her. She screeches and he backs off again. He continues to beg and implore her. The Globetrotters show up at the top of the slide. Canaan continues to beg her and then he reminds her that they have only 2 minutes now. The show cuts to Canaan and Mika in a private session with the camera at an obviously later time. They explain to the camera that when there is a task that only 1 team can do at a time and 1 team is holding another one up from completing the task than a 2 minute timer starts at which pint the first team must relinquish and let the second team go by. The show cuts back to the top of the slide. As Canaan continues to beseech her to just go down the slide, Big Easy at least starts telling her that she shouldn't do it. She should not do something that might be dangerous. Canaan turns around and tells them that that wasn't cool, but he/ they continue until the 2 minutes is up. Mika gets up when she's told she must and the Globetrotters throw themselves down the slide. As they go down, Canaan tells Big Easy he's a piece of crap. At the bottom of the slide Big Easy says that he didn't like to see her crying, but it was a race. Canaan tells her he's going too and he goes. He looks up from the bottom hoping that she would just follow - but she just couldn't do it He walks to the edge of the water saying that he knows she can't do it. He really doesn't seem upset, although his disappointment can't be entirely hidden. Mika walks down the stairs telling the camera that Canaan will hate her. She looks so sad. Flight Time and Big Easy are checked in as Team # 6. Phil tells them that this is one of the most dramatic finishes they have ever had. Mika and Canaan come to the mat and Phil tells tem that they are the last team to arrive and they have been eliminated from the race. Mika whispers sorry to Canaan and he shrugs. Phil asks Mika how she's doing and she says not too well - she feels as though she let Canaan down and let herself down. Canaan hugs her as he does a voiceover that saysthat he doesn't hold it against Mika - that could have been him up there crippled by fear - and there's freedom in forgiveness and freedom in understanding that people aren't perfect and neither are you. The show closes as we see Phil watching Mika and Canaan walking back down the beach in the direction from which they had come.Next week on The Amazing Race Ericka has a breakdown while the Globetrotters dress in traditional female costumes and learn a dance together.
