Survivor SamoaSurvivor: Samoa
Recap October 8, 2009

Tonight's episode of Survivor Samoa explores the Galu tribe more thoroughly as they lounge languidly in their camp, while Fao Foa's Russell shifts his alliance to meet the dynamics of his tribe.

Shambo feels appreciated at Foa Foa and she is openly outspoken to her tribe about how beautiful their beach was and how receptive their people were to her. Erik speaks to Shambo about the immunity idol being in the same place on their beach as it was on Foa Foa's beach. Shambo tells both Erik and another tribe mate. She tells them both clues, that it is near the bark of a tree and low to the ground. She feels it will only benefit her to share information with them.

Mick from Foa Foa reads the tree mail and decides to bring Russell and Natalie. Russell brings Shambo and Dave. They arrive at the challenge to find that they are alone. Finally delving into a chest, they find balls and instructions for a game similar to Bocce. The group to get their balls closest to the flag will get a pen filled with live chickens.  Foa Foa is closest to the flag at round two, but Dave from Galu is up last and he is either going to make it or break it for his team. Dave's ball ends up touching the flag, and Galu takes home the chickens. Mick is demoralized that they came so close, but lost and watches dismally as Galu takes home still another reward.

It is day nine and Galu is living comfortably. Erik is fixated on finding the hidden immunity idol and uses the time without Russell, his tribe leader, to search for it. Erik locates the idol with little trouble and decides not to tell anyone about it. Dave is excited to bring home chickens and Russell hollars that they are bearing gifts and will have eggs every morning. Dave is excited, but tries to remain humble. Shambo is assigned the job of getting them fresh water. She says that she will be kind to them because chickens are finicky and she has a little experience with them.

Jaison says that he is tired, hungry, and thirsty and just wants to live to play another day. Russell and Jaison are dining on melons but are hungry for food. Russell says that he promised to take Jaison to the finals, but in reality he wants to take Natalie because he thinks she is just dumb, and when he sits at finals with her he can say that she rode his coattails to the end. Natalie feels that she is Russell's wingman of a sort. She wants others to see that she won't ruffle feathers, and then in the end she can garner the votes since he rubs people the wrong way at timess.

On Galu, one of the chickens escape. Shambo and Erik run about chasing it until it flies into a tree. Erik gets tripped up by a closeline. Russell is beyond stunned that Shambo let it escape and then that she was surprised that it actually can fly. Shambo says that she needs a break. She produced one egg and then let it get away. Dave laughs at it as it was the chicken who produced the egg and his tribe is too lazy to go catch it.

Kelly is sick of Yasmin doing nothing and napping all the time. Kelly spends an hour getting some milk out of a coconut and Yasmin arrives complaining she can't sleep because of Erik and wanting a taste of the milk. Kelly feels that when her tribe loses, Yasmin will be the first to go.

The tribes meet for the immunity challenge to find an obstacle course of roped net runs. They have to collect blocks, run an obstacle course and stack them. Once they stack a first set of blocks one on top of another, that they have to maneuver a rope challenge and each member must cross it one at a time. At the end of the first block stack, Galu is ahead by a slight lead. Foa Foa is slightly behind at the end of the rope bridge challenge as well, but they have made up time from the first stack of blocks. Galu moves into a strong lead at this point after quickly getting their block bag untied. They struggle with the stacking of the blocks, however and can't seem to get the height needed. Foa Foa works in tandem and with Natalie standing on the shoulders of fellow tribemates, she puts the last block into place and her team races back to their mat. For the first time in the game Foa Foa has won the immunity challenge. Galu must go to their first tribal council. Russell, Galu's leader, feels that Monica has not put forth good effort in the challenge.

Russell S. is feeling pissy that his team lost. He feels that Monica really fell apart and screwed it up for them. He thinks that she is a young girl, hanging out and having a Club Med time. Erik agrees with him. Dave feels that Shambo's colassal screw-ups have been demoralizing to the tribe. Others feels that Yas has done little for the tribe. Yasmin says that she isn't stepping up because if you do and fail, you will be a target. She feels that she stepped up in the challenge, but if they want to vote her out her body can use the rest. Erik feels that Yas is stronger in challenges than Monica. Dave and Erik back Russell in his decision. Russell says that he wants the strongest tribe and he wants the strength over cutsiness. He says that if they don't listen to him as tribe leader there will be some serious a** kicked.

Galu goes to their first Survivor Samoa tribal council and meet with Jeff. He asks her about her afternoon. She says that people were uneasy and went for walks on the beach. Brett is asked if everyone is pulling their weight. He says that some pull their weight, but Yasmin isn't. Jeff asks her why she is rolling her eyes and she says that she isn't, but will give her opinion which is that she does do her part and she likes her heels and wants to look good. Yasmin and Russell agree that she is strong in the challenges and Russell says that if you aren't strong in the challenges, you don't lead from the top. Jeff asks whether they will vote for challenges or on their personal strategy, and if you make big moves too quickly, it can harm your tribe. Jeff calls for the vote.

The votes:
Yasmin, Yasmin, Monica, Monica, Yasmin, Yasmin, Yasmin, Yasmin. Fourth person voted out of Survivor Samoa is Yasmin.

Jeff comments that not only did they lose a tribe member, they lost momentum. He asks if they are going to get it back and sends them back to camp.

Next time on Survivor Samoa: Rain storms that last for days threaten both tribes and they find it difficult to work the challenges.

Yasmin's last words: She feels that her tribe is tip-toeing around each other, and if she had to live in that environment, she is glad she is gone.
