Hell’s KitchenDodging the Bullet and Hanging by a Thread Fox' Hell's Kitchen starts with highlights from the eleventh episode seen previously. We begin Episode 12 with the chefs leaving Hell’s Kitchen (HK). Dave vents to Tennille that he was disappointed in her changing the nominations from the previous episode and Dave tells the camera that he doesn’t trust her. Kevin feels that everyone is beginning to self-destruct , and he is sitting back hoping that he gets through it unscathed. The next morning, the five remaining chefs come back down to HK where Ramsay greets them and tells them that they are all talented and deserve to be there. His challenge today is not only to have the chefs’ dishes taste well, but also be visually stunning. Barbara Fairchild, Editor-in-Chief of Bon Appétit magazine, is called in along with her staff to judge the dishes. Her staff will pick the final two based on visual appearance, and Ms. Fairchild and Ramsay will taste those two to determine the winner. The chefs have 45 minutes to complete this challenge. The scores then come in from the judges – Dave can’t remember the name of his dish and it’s hilarious – and fifth place is Tennille. Fourth place goes to Suzanne. Then Ramsay reveals that Kevin is the highest scoring dish. The final spot is between Dave and Ariel. He says it was close, but Ariel wins. The final two dishes are from Kevin and Ariel. Ms. Fairchild and Ramsay then taste the dishes. They come to a decision and we come to our first commercial break of the episode. When we return from the break, we get a recap of Ariel and Kevin being the final two in the challenge. Ramsay then determines that it’s too close to call, and they both win. For their reward, they get to join Ms. Fairchild and Ramsay at a photo shoot at Shutters on the Beach, where their dishes will be featured, along with their recipes in Bon Appétit. The losers get to clean a street, as HK has adopted a street. They get to wear nice HK orange jumpsuits and take a prison bus to their punishment. Ariel and Kevin, meanwhile, arrive at Shutters, which is a nice hotel on the beach. The losers then received tools and garbage bags to pick up trash along the side of the road from Chef Scott. Tennille complains the entire time, saying “This ain’t right!” Kevin and Ariel are joined by Ms. Fairchild and Ramsay with cameras all around, drinking champagne and having terrific food. After they finish, they go back to HK where they see the losing team cleaning up outside to make HK sparkle. Dave, unfortunately, gets more swelling in his wrist and is a lot of pain. The other chefs would love for Dave to drop out as it is one less chef to beat. Dave, however, says it will take a lot more than a painful wrist to get him out. At this point, we come to the second break. Upon return from the second round of commercials, the chefs are shown prepping in the kitchen, and Dave has to do things that don’t aggravate his wrist. Kevin begins ordering the others around, and it turns the others off. Nevertheless, Ramsay shows up for his pep talk and says he wants to complete the service complete, with every chef on top of their stations, and it to be perfectly done. They slap high fives, and the team is excited to get started. At this time, HK is open for service. In addition to Ramsay’s traditional menu, it will also include the two winning dishes from Ariel and Kevin. Orders start coming in. From the start, there is trouble on the appetizers because of a lack of communication. They get past this and the first round goes out. Then guests begin pouring in at the same time, and tickets begin coming in faster. Ariel and Tennille have a small disagreement about Tennille’s risotto, and Ramsay agrees that it’s overcooked. Then, Suzanne has difficulties with her scallops. After Dave gets his passed, Tennille again has difficulty with the risotto. Unfortunately for Kevin, he overcooked the rice, which caused the problem in the first place. Ramsay is disappointed in the fact that they have overcooked the risotto and rice and keeps harassing Kevin about it. After another attempt, Ramsay calls Tennille and Kevin up to the pass, presumably to roast them about another bad risotto. The third commercial break then comes. After the commercials, we get a review of Ramsay calling Tennille and Kevin to the pass after they continually mess up with the risotto. Fortunately, Ramsay points out how perfect this batch is, and the clogging of the appetizer pipeline has been cleared, and the kitchen can move onto entrees. Ariel’s chicken is pink, and Ramsay tells them all to stop. Ramsay says the chicken is raw and kicks the garbage can. The next time that the food comes to the pass, Ariel passes. Suzanne’s fish, however, is no good. He calls all of them to check out the fish, saying it’s raw like sushi. As she continues to struggle, it’s an hour and a half into dinner service, and only half of the dining room has received their entrees. Suzanne’s fish finally passes as Tennille almost starts a fire in the kitchen. Ramsay grills the team telling them that they are all taking turns screwing up. He tells them to start working harder as they only have one completed table out of the last five. Ariel then sends up some raw lamb. He brings her out to the dining room and chastises her, embarrassing her. They all then continue getting yelled at by Chef Ramsay, and he calls them all together saying that he is tired of calling out orders to have one of them not good enough to send out. As it seems that he is going to tell them to shut it down, the fourth break comes upon us. When we return from the break, we see that two and a half hours into the service, Ramsay says that the diners are getting screwed, and he says that if they can’t get it together, then the service will end (well, with harsher language!). The chefs then finally finish the dinner service, but Ramsay is still disappointed. He says that they didn’t come together as a team and he dismisses them. The team goes back to figure out who the two nominees should be, although they feel they all could go home. They have a difficult time coming to consensus. The next scene is in HK for the nomination ceremony. Ramsay asks Kevin who the first nominee is, and he says Ariel because of inconsistency. He asks for the second nominee and as he is about to announce it, we come to the last break of the episode. Upon return of the final commercial of the night, a review is given with Ramsay asking Kevin who the nominees are. The first one announced is Ariel. Then he says that Suzanne is the second nominee, because of the undercooked fish and scallops. Ramsay calls them forward to ask them why they should stay. After listening to their pleas, Ramsay says they both should go, but decides that Suzanne is going home. Ramsay then tells Tennille that she dodged a bullet. He pleads with the final four to bounce back. The next morning, they will start the “playoffs” and it will not be an easy ride. He then sends them off for the night. At this point, the twelfth episode of Hell's Kitchen is finished. Scenes from the thirteenth episode are then shown. Tune in next week on FOX for the thirteenth episode.
