Dancing With The Stars Performance Show Recap for 10-20-08
Hello, and welcome to another week of Dancing With The Stars! We have now reached the halfway point in the competition. This week, four new dances will be introduced in this Dancing With The Stars competition --the West Coast Swing, the hustle, the salsa and the jitterbug. The dancers are all fairly aware of what the judges are looking for now and have enough experience that they know when they have a good or "bad" performance. They are more aware of what is necessary for them to be getting high scores. The performances really get interesting from this point on in the competition. Let's see what the DWTS judges think.
The first couple to dance tonight is Lance and Lacey with the West Coast Swing. In order to help him prepare, she brings in her father, who is a legendary WCS dancer. Lance says that it helps him build up his confidence. He falls during the dance, but recovers quickly. Despite that, the dance is very clean and fun, yet still has a bit of a club feel to it.
Len wants Lacey to show Lance off a bit more.
Bruno thinks Lacey is holding Lance back too much.
Carrie Ann likes the dance, but feels that Lacey needs to focus more on Lance.
Score: 21 (triple 7s)
The next couple to take the stage is Toni and Alec, who also do the West Coast Swing. Alec helps her work on her posture and Toni is determined to really bring it this week. I love her hair, that cut is so adorable! The dance is fantastic, but I have a feeling they are going to be penalized for that lift.
Bruno says he didn't like the moonwalk and thinks they did not work up to their potential.
Carrie Anne thinks they over danced it.
Len doesn't think it is happening with them anymore and wants more from them.
(No mention of the lift? I'm surprised!)
Score: 22 (7,7,8)
Before we get to the next dance, it is announced we will be getting a guest judge next week to give Len time off.
Susan and Tony are up next with their hustle. It turns out that Susan fractured two bones in her foot, thanks to her jive injury. However, she plans to dance through the pain. Injury or not, she still pulled off an awesome dance! I can tell she is favoring her ankle a bit, but still trying to channel her inner Erica Kane.
Carrie Ann admires her for dancing with a broken foot, but wants her to break free more.
Len thinks Tony is treating Susan like a china doll and wants them to take their knickers off and go for it!
Bruno calls it an uptown girl hustle.
Nobody mentioned their lifts, so I'm assuming they are allowed tonight?
Score: 22 (7,7,8)
Warren and Kym try to wow the judges with a hustle of their own. He wants Kym to push him more and jokes that there is no way Susan can hustle like him. Warren is really working it tonight, he continues to amaze me with how GOOD he is!
Len raves about how much he loved it.
Bruno thinks Warren knows how to funk!
Carrie Ann loves how they took everyone back in time with the dance!
Both Warren and Kym commend Susan on her hustle before they get their scores.
Score; 25 (8,8,9)
After the commercial break, Cloris and Corky salsa their way into America's hearts. They go to a farmers market to thank their fans. Looks like a brace on her knee, poor thing, another one who's hurt! I love her dress, she looks so pretty! They do a nice samba and once again, she can sell a performance like nobody's business.
Bruno says an old girl can still turn a trick! He adds that she really did it, but it looked like she had too many margaritas.
Carrie Ann says she loves her and she makes people forget this is a dance competition.
Len adds that they did a good job and quips that she is the first person in the competition older than him. He adds she is hotter than a chili pepper!
Score: 21 (triple 7s)
Cloris quips that Corky wanted her to be a skanky ho, and he attempts to whisper sweet nothings in her ear.
Up next are Maurice and Cheryl. She seems very uncomfortable and feels as if he doesn't care about the dance. However, they manage to pull it off and do one of the best dances of the night.
Carrie Ann hugs him and says he is finally bringing it.
Len gushes over how much he liked it, as does Bruno.
Score: 27 (triple 9s)
After the scores, Cheryl apologizes to Maurice for being so mean to him and congratulates him for a job well done.
Brooke and Derek take the floor with their jitterbug. For some reason, Derek is wearing a Pebbles ponytail during practice. He admits he had no idea about the dance, so he did some internet research on it. For someone who claims to be so clueless about the jitterbug, he managed to knock yet another routine out of the park. WOW!
Tom quips that Derek's hair has been claimed a bird sanctuary. (He is rocking the Elvis look)
Len likes how Brooke is consistently tops.
Bruno calls it glorious.
Carrie Ann says there is nothing to nitpick about because it was that good.
Tom gives a shout out to George Hamilton and Stacy Kiebler (quipping about the restraining order) and tells Misty to be careful around him since she can't run from him. Aw, I love George!
Score 29 (10,9,10)
Cody and Julianne do the last jitterbug--and dance of the night. They spy on Derek and Brooke to try and get an idea of what the dance is supposed to look like. They did a fun, entertaining dance and I'm loving the Lucy/Ricky theme.
Bruno calls it a firebug and loved the slapstick in the routine.
Carrie Ann thinks this dance is perfect for them.
Len says he liked it very much.
Tom announces next week is an old school hip hop dance in addition to their own dances.
Score: 28 (10,9,9).
After a recap of all the dances we are reminded to vote and tune in tomorrow for the kid's competition, Macy's dances and of course the elimination.
There will also be a recap at 8pm EST that will include a sneak peek of High School Musical 3.
Who will be going home tomorrow night from Dancing With The Stars? Leave your guesses in the comments! See you tomorrow night everybody!
