Melissa Carcache is more than just a superstar in the making. She is also a woman with a heart of gold and someone you immediately bond with when you meet. TVGrapevine recently caught up with the Every Witch Way star in an exclusive one on one interview. Below are some of the highlights from our chat.

THE BEGINNING: Melissa was always interesting in acting, but didn't pursue it right away because her mother didn't want her working at such a young age. She took some acting and ballet classes and at thirteen did a competition called Best New Talent in LA.

She then started getting calls from agents and although she signed with one, her mother wanted her to finish school before pursing acting as a career. At eighteen, she moved to LA, but soon relocated to Miami, which led to her landing her breakout role on Every Witch Way on Nickelodeon.

MAMA KNOWS BEST: Melissa says she is grateful her mom did things the way she did because it allowed her to have a childhood and high school experience. She was able to go to prom, join the dance team and other things she might not have been able to do had she done things differently.

{sidebar id=8}She adds that it allowed her to make sure she really wanted to pursue acting and that her journey was well worth it.

EVERY WITCH WAY: Melissa plays Lily, the school nurse/witch guardian on Nickelodeon's Every Witch Way. She doesn't have any powers, but she is very knowledgable and trains and protects Emma as she comes to terms with having her own powers. She is there to make sure that Emma keeps her powers and that she is protected from the principal, who is an evil witch always after Emma and her powers.

She says that we can expect to see a lot this season, including relationship woes, adventures with getting into the Witches Counsel, evil witches and much more. She says that everyone will want to tune in to see what happens!

CHARITY WORK: In addition to working on the show, Melissa is also very involved in charity work. She does a lot of work with Miami Children's Hospital because they did a lot to help her brother with his medical issues. She and her sister were recently able to raise $30,000 to help kids going from Haiti to Miami.

In addition, she visited patients at the hospital to give them a sneak peek of season two of Every Witch Way. She spent time with everyone, signed autographs and even ordered pizza with them. She loves that she was able to give back and hopes to continue to work with the hospital in the future.

Thank you to Melissa and her team for this interview and check your local listings for Every Witch Way showtimes on Nickelodeon.
