Recap For May 8, 2013

By Sammi-T

Hello and welcome to American Idol the top three on Fox. Tonight, Kree, Angie and Candice will perform one last time before next week's finals.

In addition to the performances, we will also visit the girls' hometowns.

Round one: Jimmy's Choice
Kree Harrison
Song: Perfect by Pink
Commentary: This is not a song I would have picked for her, but she did a good job putting her own spin on it. I like how Jimmy is pushing her out of her comfort zone, but still keeping her with songs that show off her talent.
Keith: He loves her signature sound.
Nicki: She wanted to see more from her and suggests she wear flats.
Randy: She kind of settled in and there was no pizzazz.
Mariah: She hopes she gives is her everything later.

Candice Glover
Song: One by U2
Commentary: WOW, she really knocked it out of the park with this one. It is almost like she is having her own Candice concert, she has the passion, the connection with the audience and everything anyone paying to go see her could want.
Nicki: She is on her way and did the performance justice. The competition just started.
Randy: This was a good choice for her and the emotion was on point.
Mariah: She brings so much as a singer and she was with her and felt it.
Keith: He felt every bit of it, beautiful.

Angie Miller
Song: Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word by Elton John
Commentary: She always is able to take any song and make it her own. Tonight was no exception. I usually hate when Elton John is remade or sung on these types of shows, but tonight it really seemed to work for her.
Randy: He wonders why there was no piano playing, but thinks she was holding back a bit. He did actually really like it.
Mariah: This was one of her best performances.
Keith: He would have liked her to hold back a little more, but don't underestimate her power.
Nicki: It didn't hit her emotionally, but she is in it to win it.

Round two: Judge's Choice
Candice Glover
Song: Next To Me by Emeli Sande
Commentary: Her hometown visit is very emotional. She not only sees her family, but also gets her own parade and to visit her old job.

As her performance, I am not sure I would have chosen this song for her, but she really seems to be into the performance. She has that diva flair that really makes her stand head and shoulders above even some of the best performers out there.
Mariah: She got reenergized by going home and it really helped her as a person and an artist. Keep it with her because there is nothing but good things in her future.
Keith: She was in and listening to the story. It was beautiful.
Nicki: She came out swinging and she is so proud of her.
Randy: Everyone got lifted watching her. It was amazing and he loves her.

Angie Miller
Song: Try by Pink
Commentary: I like how her brother is on stage for her. He is growing out a beard until she wins....or maybe even gets a Grammy. During her visit, she gets to do the weather for her local news, but what is more touching is seeing her reaction to all the Boston Strong signs. It is surreal. She also visits friends, family and performs for her fans.

As for her performance, it is the first time I saw her as if she were in concert. She proved tonight that while her piano adds something extra, she is pure talent without  it. She is a star through and through.
Keith: She never looked this comfortable without the piano.
Nicki: She agrees with Keith and loves the performance.
Randy: This fit her like a glove and was amazing. She is in it to win it!
Mariah: She enjoyed it and was confident.

Kree Harrision
Song: Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts
Commentary: I love her family reunion and seeing her perform for her fans.

That was one of her most emotional performances to date. I think that we finally got to see the real Kree. Beautiful.
Nicki: She is so super proud of her and we are seeing her now. It was one of her best performances to date.
Randy: It was brilliant.
Mariah: She agrees it was brilliant and there is something about her that is so real.
Keith: The perfect song and she had him from start to finish.

Round Three: Producer’s Choice
Angie Miller
Song: Maybe by Emeli Sande
Commentary: She decides to use the piano this time and it works for this song. It is a great performance to end her night and really shows off the very best of her talent.
Randy: He loves all her performances and tonight she became a complete performer.
Mariah: She was her, there and present. She did an amazing job.
Keith: She is finding her groove tonight.
Nicki: She did it.

Kree Harrison
Song: Better Dig Two by The Band Perry
Commentary: This was completely out of her comfort zone, but she really made it her own and I actually really enjoyed seeing this side of her.
Mariah: She loved it, but prefers her more emotional performances.
Keith: He thinks she set the bar so high tonight that this didn’t work.
Nicki: She didn’t like this for her at all.
Randy: This isn’t her but she did her best with what she had.

Candice Glover
Song: Somewhere from West Side Story
Commentary: Welcome to the finals Candice. She just made it there with an incredible performance and kept me captivated through the entire thing. Even if she doesn’t win, she most probably has the attention of Broadway now. WOW.
Keith: Vote for Candice or see your doctor.
Nicki: See you next week
Randy: It was so incredible and he is so proud.
Mariah: She is so proud and showed she can sing anything. This made her cry since it was her parents’ song.

Tune in tomorrow night for the American Idol Finalists to be revealed. Goodnight.
