{sidebar id=2} Hello and welcome to week five of The Bachelor. Last week, we said goodbye to Monica and Samantha. Now the final eleven girls will be headed to Puerto Rico for some fun in the sun with Ben.
The show opens with Ben and the girls arriving, ooing and ah-ing over the beauty of Puerto Rico and Emily whining about Courtney. Does anyone else think she looks like Kendra Wilkinson?
Chris calls the girls outside to welcome them and explain for the millionth time how the dates work. A group date, two one on ones, rose up for grabs, one on one girls may get sent home…I can say this in my sleep now. He does have some good news! No, he did not save a load of money on his car insurance by switching to Geico. The girls will all be going on dates with Ben this week. Use the time wisely ladies!!!
DATE ONE! The first one on one is for Nicki. Let’s find a new love in old San Juan is the clue. It is also given to her in Spanish. Thank you for the translation, Emily.
Courtney whines about being wronged and says 'you better check yourself, bitch.’
Ben says Nicki brings out the playful, kid side of him. They fly to San Juan in a helicopter and walk around in the rain after getting some snacks. That part is kind of cute. They run to shelter and out of the raining gatos. Ben is happy Nicki is rolling with it. They get some drier clothes—as in buying authentic Puerto Rican clothes. They play model and Nicki says he is muy, muy, muy caliente. He says he has swagger.
The rain stops and they sit down to talk about their pasts….including her past marriage. They witness a wedding and the subject turns to marriage and how they want that.
The conversation continues over wine and she is happy he doesn’t mind she is a divorcee. They discuss it a bit more and he decides he wants to get to know her more, so he gives her a rose….and they make out.
DATE TWO! At the house, the girls wonder who will get the one on one date. Blakeley and Elyse argue about who deserves a one on one date more. Blah. The group date card arrives and it turns out everyone except Elyse is on this date, which means she has the one on one. Blakeley is a bit jealous because she wanted Ben to see the fun, romantic side of her.
Back to the date. Diamonds are not the ones Marilyn Monroe sings about but baseball diamonds. The Carolina Gigantes will be running them through drills. Blakeley is thrilled because she played in school. She wants to do good for Ben.
I HATE HATE HATE how dumb the girls are acting. So NOT attractive.
Chris Harrison appears and tells them that they will be split into teams and the winning team will go to a romantic beach party with Ben. Since the numbers are uneven, one girl will play for both teams and gets to go to the party. Ben chooses Lindzi.
Blakeley and Courtney are the team captains. Blakeley chooses Emily, Jennifer and Rachel. while Courtney chooses Kacie B, Casey S and Jamie.
Courtney: .'Who knew that strippers could play baseball? Referring to Blakeley. WOW.
Courtney’s team wins and they all leave for the party with Ben….in a helicopter. Blakeley takes it hard, as do the other girls.
On the way home, Blakeley is sad because she hasn't had as much one on one time with Ben. Jennifer understands since she knows Blakeley never got a one on one but most of the other girls did. They get to the hotel and tell the other girls what happened
At the party, Courtney makes fun of the losing team and makes snarky comments about the girls at the party with her.
Ben spends one on one time with the girls and talks about love, feelings, etc. I feel like he has had this same conversation fifteen million times in fifteen different ways.
Kacie B gets the rose and Courtney whines since 'she is just a little girl' without much world experience. And whining and being mean is so mature Courtney. She promises him skinny dipping.
DATE THREE: Elyse's clue is 'let's find love somewhere private.' She is very nervous and emotional, especially because she gave up so much, including her job, to be there. Ben picks her up and greets her with a hug. He takes her on a yacht. Courtney thinks the date will be interesting and makes more nasty comments about Elyse being a personal trainer. This girl needs to give it a rest.
On the date, Elyse and Ben chat about his journey and her past relationships. She says screw it all and let's get married here. She adds that this is the most romantic date she has ever been on.
They decide to take a swim and make out. She is convinced that he is the guy she will marry.
Over dinner, he proposes a toast to the 'best dressed couple on the beach' and to getting to know each other better. Elyse gives him the chance to ask her anything and he wonders what she meant by accomplshing what she wanted. She says she accomplished everything she wanted as a single girl and is ready for a relationship, engagement and marriage. She adds that she wants him to be honest with her. He picks up the rose and says there were some misconnections on group dates and cocktail parties, which is why he took her on the date. He twirls the rose and says he hasn't found what he was looking for with her and the connections with the other girls are stronger. Still twirling and waving the rose, he tells her she will be going home. WTF Ben! That was really rude! He says she didn't do anything wrong, but there was nothing there. She is an incredible woman though! She walks away into the water and onto the boat in tears. I actually feel really bad for her, she seemed to genuinely want things to work unlike some people on this show. Courtney, I'm looking at you.
Ben tosses the rose into the ocean. how cliche.
The girls are shocked when Suitcase Collecting Dude comes for Elyse's things. Courtney says she probably drank too much and went all Jersey Shore. She admits she is pleasantly surprised because he can't keep everyone.
Courtney takes that moment to make good on her promise. She greets Ben with a wolf whistle and wine. She offers him a massage with lotion and says his eyes are probably sore after his date with Elyse. Good grief, girl! You are not special and Queen of the Show so just stop with the attitude please!
The two enjoy some wine and talk a bit. He knows skinny dipping is a bad idea, but wants more time with her so he does it anyway. The other girls are going to feel like crap, just saying. The two of them strip and run in the water. The FCC must be going nuts over this. WOW, I have no words.....She knows the girls are probably going to hate her, but she doesn't care.
Later on, Ben feels kind of crappy about his intimate moment with Courtney. He tries to make up for it by spending more one on one time with the other girls.
He makes out with Jennifer and talks to Blakeley. She shares her feelings and how she never thought she would find someone life him. He made her realize she deserves love and to be happy. They kiss and he loves how open and honest she was with him.
Courtney says the other girls aren't having the same connection she has with him. She brings up the topic of skinny dipping and they talk about how freeing it is. She doesn't confess, but admits she wants to skinny dip in Puerto Rico.
Emily mentions Courtney again and he tells her to stay out of it and to be careful. Courtney says if Emily goes home, it will be like Christmas morning.
Rose ceremony time! Nicki and Kacie B already have roses. Lindzi, Jamie, Rachel, Courtney, Casey S, Blakeley and Emily get roses. Jennifer is sent home. Ben walks her out as she cries. She says she understands and wishes him the best. She thought their time together went well and now isn't sure. She wants to love and have that love returned.
Ben tells the other girls to stay open with him and he will do the same....in Panama City, Panama.
Join us next week for something that changes one of the girls forever. On a serious note, I truly hope whoever it impacted with the bad news is okay.
