Shawntel Newton Speaks Out
By Sammi-T
{sidebar id=2} The Bachelor cocktail party this past Monday 'was literally like it was out of the movie Mean Girls,’ returning Bachelorette Shawntel Newton revealed in a conference call with the Thursday. The funeral director, who previously appeared in Brad Womack’s season, attended the third cocktail party of the season to try and win Bachelor Ben Flajnik’s heart.
The pretty brunette said she expected some confusion and for the girls to be a little upset, but she was not expecting the reaction to be as bad as it was. It got to the point where she even left the cocktail party and cried in the bathroom because the girls were being so mean to her. She added that defending herself for two and a half hours was exhausting and she was ready to walk out because 'a girl can only take so much.’
Some of the worst moments? Being screamed at by Elyse, seeing the girls attack her body image when she rewatched the episode and Jaclyn telling her that she wanted to punch her in the face when she saw her walk in the room. (Shawntel said that Jaclyn later apologized to her.) As for Courtney….well, her actions on Monday speak for themselves.
Although the girls were viscous to her, that doesn’t mean that they were all auditioning for a role in the Bachelor version of Mean Girls. Shawntel said that some of the girls were actually very sweet to her. She says Kaci B. offered to share a room with her if she made it to the next rose ceremony and Lindzi made a point to be friendly. (She did, however, mention that they were NOT as nice during their interview pieces and that kaci went as far as to blame her for Erika passing out.) But the nicest of them all? Jennifer, who Shawntel described as 'a very pleasant person and a classy woman.’
Still, Shawntel has no regrets about the experience and is currently dating and moving on with her life. She hopes that she was able to show people who watched her to take a risk, 'even with love.’
Thank you to Shawntel and ABC for the opportunity to participate in the call. The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
